Seems some what strange to include up to date content in a blog that look at the past, but hey I am a modern day gamer who just so happens to have a passion for the retro.
E3 came and went. all in all the event was a success, despite the Sony no show, we were treated to an appearance from the man himself Keanu via what I think is going to be the game of the year 2020 in Cyberpunk, and well the less said about Dr Disrespects IRL toilet antics the better (never trusted anyone who wears sunglasses indoors) hopefully this was an error of judgement on his part and he's back doing what he does best soon.
Now the theme is set of more modern stuff today I want to talk about good old Los Santos, Rockstar and GTA 5, damn game has been out that long there is a case for it almost being retro. I will admit in its day absolutely awesome and I look forward to spending my retirement in 30 years time when GTA 6 finally gets released. I took some time the other day and thought "ok lets boot it up and see whats happening online", last I had played was when I would say it made a small resurgence with the Night Club dlc which wasn't all that bad and you could tell the team at Rockstar put the effort in with this one, but again the fact that you probably needed to grind for 10months to afford anything or buy Sharkcards (which I have never had a notion to do) frustrates a bit, so the we remedied this with the sneaky duplication car glitch which has been a god sent, I would say this glitch grind alone made me play GTA 5 Online again for about 2 months, duplicating cars, getting my readies and buying all the nice things only a ton of sharkcards could bring (still didn't buy a yacht, decadent shit).
That was all good and well but from this there really hasn't been anything of note, I still have at least 30 duped cars sitting with no motivation to sell, I logged on out of curiosity again and downloaded the arena dlc and bought all the items I needed and set about a game, a kind of destruction derby meets rocket league but yeah just not one of rockstars best I would say, kudos for releasing content that is free but I would rather they called time on releasing dlc's and concentrated on GTA 6 so that we can have a un delayed fully polished, story mode and online ready game when PS5 is released.
What does surprise me is that there is indeed still a lot of traffic online, I really though Los Santos online would be a barren waste land at this point but not so much, one reason I think I know why is the recent change to the casino, this was always a dlc I wanted to see along with story mode dlc (the latter I am still pissed at rockstar for) I would have loved some sort of continuation of the 3 characters stories maybe a CJ cameo etc but sadly I don't think we will ever see this now, but will we even see casino dlc is the question, the pessimist in me thinks this is a ploy from Rockstar to have people continuing to log on just to have a look and well while they are on just do a few jobs here and there.
I would absolutely love to be proved wrong with the casino dlc but I think this is maybe a bit of trolling on Rockstars part, I mean a casino dlc will open up all sorts ramifications for glitches and money so what I think might happen if we see this dlc will be similar to the night club dlc, no actual facility to gamble, I think that's far too risky on Rockstars part. What we are more likely to see is a collaboration with a character similar to gay Tony in night clubs, I a very hopeful that Rockstar will give us woozy from San Andreas for this, maybe even woozy and CJ which would bring a huge increase in online traffic again.
Don't troll me Rockstar, make me want to play your game again. Well until GTA 6 comes out because you know we are all going to be all over that like teenage girls on a Bieber Instagram post.
Rockstar have the potential to provide just enough longevity with any dlc that will feature casino's or past characters, the whole online feature has opened a whole new revenue stream so put this money to good use and give us some good closing dlc, if not then I will indeed ask the last person leaving Los Santos to please turn off the lights.
