A bit late to the party but what the hey!

So its been a minute. I sort of fell of the planet for a while, well in a writing sense that is, my bad, life has a way of doing that, i feel, since my last article the world has certainly changed, we survived through a pandemic, unfortunately there are other evils in the world with wars being waged which is sad. If anyone from these parts of our planet reads my heart goes out to you and i hope peace returns for you sometime in the immediate future.

So yeah a hiatus came into play, i hit pause and lost the remote to press play again. I am a bit older, not so sure wiser, but I'm here and want to write again and i hope i can ask some to join me. My blogs to which there are 2 focus on 1. retro gaming (sometimes current) and my second blog titled Pint Size Pizza which focuses on craft beers and pizza, more to the point homemade (i spent my lockdown becoming a self proclaimed aficionado in both, i like to think you could bundle all 3 topics up and find something you like from any of that, needless to say on the craft beer and pizza front i certainly have gained a lot of content for writing.....but i digress, this is retro gaming so back to the plan.

Now there's a story to this piece, bear with me and ill get to it. Around the beginning of lockdown I downloaded myself a mobile game, i have many but this one has stuck, the game itself is titled "The Walking Dead Survivors" from my last check I'm over 800 consecutive days logged in to this game and probably a fair amount of cash as with most mobile games there's cash to progress involved if you want. Now I'm a massive Walking dead fan from day 1 up until now and i stuck with the series while others abandoned it around the time (SPOILER) where Negan decided to put a big dent in Glenn's head, so you can probably understand why i have invested so much time to the game, one of the really good things about the game is the social element, i have spent the 2.5 or so years developing friendships, one of which was a kind fellow from the same country as me who after we got talking over the months kindly sent me a gamebox (Raspberry Pi) sort of deal as he was buying a new one, now for the retro purist i apologise, yes i appreciate its not the actual consoles themselves but I'm completely sold on something that can squeeze literally thousands of games into one little box and give me all the feels and nostalgia under the sun.

The gamebox system i have appears to have almost everything from early atari/amiga and amstrad offerings all the way up to playstation 1 and just about everything in between. Now I'm no mug i am aware that these types of things have been around for a considerable amount of time but the gaming purist in me was so resistant to them as i wanted to own and play the consoles themselves but that in itself would cost far more that i can begin to fathom.

So yeah I'm writing again and really hope i can drag some of you along for the ride here, i  mean i have literally thousands of games to choose from to make lists of or review for anyone who wants to level up their retrogaming knowledge or like me just get the feels again.

I hope you can stay tuned for more content. Id also pose the question to the likeminded person, are you a fan of these types of plug in and go gaming systems if so drop a comment one way or another of post on our blogs IG page ragequitretro.

Id love to drop a shameless plug into the mix for my alternative blog which focuses on craft beers and home made pizza, yes i was one of those lockdown guys that bought an ooni oven and got more acquainted with yeast, water and flour, but come on Beer, pizza and gaming are literally the most compatible things in the world right.

Its been awesome getting the blog fired up again, i hope i can do retro gaming some justice and take you along with me.

See you in a bit

Straight to the Point......and click part 1

After a small hiatus from the blog we returned with our thoughts on something more modern with GTA V and its impending casino dlc, if Rockstar are to believed then i think this gamer will definitely take his Eleghy RH8 custom for a few spins around Los Santos for a few months more at least. I think the blog is going well i continue to have great ideas about what to write but struggle to find the time to commit to a schedule. The page has had nearly 6k views and the blogs don't seem to be doing to bad despite the lack of followers to the page itself. I have recently set up a Instagram page http://www.instagram.com/ragequiteretro  for the blog and a Pinterest page so i can share some of my favourite shots of games past and present, and as always i still have the page linked to my twitter  i use for my twitch, twitter.com/silverwarrior82 feel free to look me up and follow if you wish. Before i dip into the topic of the day i thought i would say a few things about myself, hopefully

5 Solid Mega Drive Titles (Feat why Fortnite is over rated)

New week new things to talk about. well not so much new as this is a retro gaming blog so old things to talk about I guess. Moving back from the opening blog on Broken Sword the time machine is going back again to an even simpler time in gaming, the late 80's and early 90's and for me this was when gaming really stating to come to the fore, we moved away from more keyboard based and we were introduced to the console, now I know consoles were around before this but the good old 8 bit Nintendo onwards is where things really started to go boom. I was never in one camp (Nintendo or Sega) I much preferred to be able to play both and at one stage or another in my youth owned one of the other and in later life with my  'ahem' unquestionable wealth I would have both. I sadly do not have a Sega product to my name at present, my retro console collection remains somewhat sparse (Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Playstation 1 & 2) I do however like to use my

The Random game generator

For someone who had had the pleasure of gaming for more years than id care to admit, you get to playing a fair share of games across many platforms, so much so if this was a paying job i could sit and type reviews for 8 hours a day 5 days a week, but its not a paying job, its passion, its history, its nostalgia, my memories, our memories as gamers, a loading screen, intro music, that first glimpse of those 8/16 bit graphics and so on. I have recently stumbled across a very random website whereby i can type in a console/computer, even a genre of game and as many game as i want numerically and hit generate it boom up pops a list, and i thought to myself, this is good, this is great in fact, there are probably hundred of games I've completely forgotten about, i wonder if this is a way to delve into this gamers archive and see what initial memories are pulled out from it, review if from recollection as well as going back and having a go again to see how it measures up to those memories
