Straight to the Point......and click part 1

After a small hiatus from the blog we returned with our thoughts on something more modern with GTA V and its impending casino dlc, if Rockstar are to believed then i think this gamer will definitely take his Eleghy RH8 custom for a few spins around Los Santos for a few months more at least.

I think the blog is going well i continue to have great ideas about what to write but struggle to find the time to commit to a schedule. The page has had nearly 6k views and the blogs don't seem to be doing to bad despite the lack of followers to the page itself. I have recently set up a Instagram page http://www.instagram.com/ragequiteretro  for the blog and a Pinterest page so i can share some of my favourite shots of games past and present, and as always i still have the page linked to my twitter  i use for my twitch, twitter.com/silverwarrior82 feel free to look me up and follow if you wish.

Before i dip into the topic of the day i thought i would say a few things about myself, hopefully it give anyone reading a flavour of what im about, being the tender age of erm mid 30's (and that's as specific as i will be) i have seen a'lot of games and consoles come and go so i have plenty in the back catalogue to write about for a blog, a family man who's days of regular lengthy gaming sessions don't exist much at the moment, i mean in the time its taken me to write what i have so far ,i have saved my 8 month old boy from probably killing himself 3 times, thankfully hes a sleep now which means i am down to typing with one hand so bear with me. I definitely wouldn't change it for the world but juggling a gaming session with taking your daughter to gymnastics means i more often than not have to resort to mobile gaming in the car.

I balance all this out with my career in exercise therapy working with those who suffer on the more severe side of the scale (schizophrenia, bipolar, chronic depression etc) definitely gives me perspective, so yeah in a nutshell im a 30 something family man active but not so active gamer who loves to help people feel better about themselves, im an open book so feel free to ask away.Up until a year or so ago i had (and still have a twitch channel with 1.6k followers but again see  family commitments and work for that hiatus, the channel grew quickly due to games such as Gta V, 7 days to die, dying light and payday 2

My very first computer was the Atari 2600 in the late 80's i progressed to the Atari st then my Nintendo education began and from then on it was a Nintendo, Sega, Sony blend, a few gaming based snip-its from me, i don't care for tomb raider, metal gear solid or fortnite.

The topic for today was to be based around some of the point and click greats we have had throughout the years, a genre of 'game we don't see a whole lot off these days sadly but i can say hand on heart my gaming education would have been poorer without it.

Typing with one hand gets tiresome so i am wrapping things up here as i doubt my son will wake up anytime soon and i really need to find the damn tv remote, if i hear the paw patrol song once more i may not have a tv to game on.

In part 2 i will be looking at classics like indiana jones, zak mckraken, broken sword and monkey island. i have briefly spoke about this genre in a previous blog but i wanted to go into more detail about point and click.

Appreciate anyone who takes the time to stop by.

  1. Very cool! As an avid gamer myself and someone in their mid 30's I have spent a lot of time on games. Twitch is my boo, but life has a way of taking up more time than we intend. Juggling responsibilities as an adult does not leave us the time we always wish we had. Plus we get tired... Nice read. I love GTA V as well. Though the DLCs have not brought me back recently.

5 Solid Mega Drive Titles (Feat why Fortnite is over rated)

New week new things to talk about. well not so much new as this is a retro gaming blog so old things to talk about I guess. Moving back from the opening blog on Broken Sword the time machine is going back again to an even simpler time in gaming, the late 80's and early 90's and for me this was when gaming really stating to come to the fore, we moved away from more keyboard based and we were introduced to the console, now I know consoles were around before this but the good old 8 bit Nintendo onwards is where things really started to go boom. I was never in one camp (Nintendo or Sega) I much preferred to be able to play both and at one stage or another in my youth owned one of the other and in later life with my  'ahem' unquestionable wealth I would have both. I sadly do not have a Sega product to my name at present, my retro console collection remains somewhat sparse (Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Playstation 1 & 2) I do however like to use my

The one true Mario game (Pound for Pound)

Good evening everyone. Today we are talking Nintendo and its most iconic guy. Before that I extend sincere thanks to those of you reading these blogs, this is my tenth piece, the page has already had over 2500 views and our last piece on PS2 games had been read over 130 times, I have no idea if that's good or not but the fact even one person has taken the time from their day to read my thoughts on retro gaming really makes it worth while, so thank you kindly. This week I have dusted of my laptop, I hardly ever use it now  unless I'm booting up WinUAE the Amiga emultor. I am currently trawling ebay for retro consoles to boost my collection, among them a master system and a Saturn. The titles I have been playing this week, stunt car racer, world boxing  manager and a Rockstar are my hamster. Clive and cecil building a music empire excellently put together boxing sim Stunt car Racer I could get lost in this emulator for hours, so many amiga roms to choos
