Growing a retro collection of epicness

Well shoot now we are working on multiple articles at the one time. while we are finishing up our top 10 Mario kart tracks from SNES to Wii I have been avidly scouring the world wide web via e-bay and the likes for retro-ness on any scale. Admittedly at present my retro collection is small, quaint if you will, it really only consists of the following consoles:

Super Nintendo
Nintendo 64
Nintendo Gamecube
Playstation 2

For each console I own a substantial amount of games, most not with boxes which is a shame really. The idea for me grew organically when I started writing about retro games the idea was based on me playing some emulators and bringing back great memories of yesteryear and sharing them with fellow enthusiast's and readers but I feel I need more now and to be frank am not sure of the best way to go about it, I do have a good idea of how to go about it but would extend this invitation to anyone reading to give me advice, and also tips on how to grow my collection, as I already said e-bay was one of my first ports of call and just this morning made my first purchase in F-Zero for SNES for a partly sum of £10 which I thought wasn't too bad. I would assume gumtree and well craigslist for my stateside brethren would be another good option along with second hand stores aka thrift shops to unearth some gems perhaps and even car booting, I suppose what I wouldn't mind knowing is how you all go about growing your collections and what rare games I should really think about adding and which ones i can safely bypass because there will always be the chance to get them, on top of this i would ask what's the best way to store unboxed games hell where the best place to pick up original game boxes, i want to safely store a ever growing collection but also to play the titles as well.

I find myself compiling a healthy list and potential costing's of all the consoles I would like to get my hands on from the original NES to all that Sega gave us including the much coveted game gear and hell even an Atari Jaguar if I can afford it. all in all I reckon this is going to be a gradual but costly exercise but one I am fully committed to, I am assuming any retro gaming enthusiast will be in the thousands of £/$ to have a collection and I am fully committed to have to fork out for what I need to grow it, I would hope along the way I can really grab a bargain or 2

Being a gamer in the UK, Scotland in particular I don't think there are many events to pickup games, I know of 1 coming up in the City of Dundee in September equipped with a playing lounge that I am fully intending on attending stocked with a full wallet to bring home the retro bacon, if any one wants to give their secrets away on what events they have that are worth heading too, comment and let me and anyone else know so we can get in on that action, it would be gratefully appreciated .

Just one final thing really, we fully appreciate the support the page has at present, no really hooks in relation to people following the page, hopefully that can change, but since we returned from a short break the pieces we have posted have had hundreds of views which cant be all bad I guess, and remember we are not just a blog here we are avid readers, anyone following our blog who has a blog page of their own we will give you a follow right back, support and growth.

Appreciated.

Straight to the Point......and click part 1

After a small hiatus from the blog we returned with our thoughts on something more modern with GTA V and its impending casino dlc, if Rockstar are to believed then i think this gamer will definitely take his Eleghy RH8 custom for a few spins around Los Santos for a few months more at least. I think the blog is going well i continue to have great ideas about what to write but struggle to find the time to commit to a schedule. The page has had nearly 6k views and the blogs don't seem to be doing to bad despite the lack of followers to the page itself. I have recently set up a Instagram page http://www.instagram.com/ragequiteretro  for the blog and a Pinterest page so i can share some of my favourite shots of games past and present, and as always i still have the page linked to my twitter  i use for my twitch, twitter.com/silverwarrior82 feel free to look me up and follow if you wish. Before i dip into the topic of the day i thought i would say a few things about myself, hopefully

5 Solid Mega Drive Titles (Feat why Fortnite is over rated)

New week new things to talk about. well not so much new as this is a retro gaming blog so old things to talk about I guess. Moving back from the opening blog on Broken Sword the time machine is going back again to an even simpler time in gaming, the late 80's and early 90's and for me this was when gaming really stating to come to the fore, we moved away from more keyboard based and we were introduced to the console, now I know consoles were around before this but the good old 8 bit Nintendo onwards is where things really started to go boom. I was never in one camp (Nintendo or Sega) I much preferred to be able to play both and at one stage or another in my youth owned one of the other and in later life with my  'ahem' unquestionable wealth I would have both. I sadly do not have a Sega product to my name at present, my retro console collection remains somewhat sparse (Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Playstation 1 & 2) I do however like to use my

The Random game generator

For someone who had had the pleasure of gaming for more years than id care to admit, you get to playing a fair share of games across many platforms, so much so if this was a paying job i could sit and type reviews for 8 hours a day 5 days a week, but its not a paying job, its passion, its history, its nostalgia, my memories, our memories as gamers, a loading screen, intro music, that first glimpse of those 8/16 bit graphics and so on. I have recently stumbled across a very random website whereby i can type in a console/computer, even a genre of game and as many game as i want numerically and hit generate it boom up pops a list, and i thought to myself, this is good, this is great in fact, there are probably hundred of games I've completely forgotten about, i wonder if this is a way to delve into this gamers archive and see what initial memories are pulled out from it, review if from recollection as well as going back and having a go again to see how it measures up to those memories
